Germany cut its imports of natural gas by a stunning -32% as of September 2022 versus the same month a year earlier (black). Czech Republic in the same period cut its gas imports by a shocking -83% (blue), a total shift away from gas, basically. Austria is down «only» -30% (red).
Germany is scrambling to get ready for LNG, while other European countries are busy importing LNG. German gas imports were down -32% y/y in Sep. 2022 (top left). They were up +60% for France (top right), +32% for the Netherlands (bottom left) and +116% for Belgium (bottom right).
