Kidnapping for ransom and hostage taking continues to be a major source of income for terrorists around the world, the United Nations has been told.
It’s estimated that $120 million in ransoms was paid to terrorist groups between 2004 and 2012.
Experts gathered in New York on Monday at a meeting convened by the UN Security Council‘s Counter-Terrorism Committee to discuss the issue.
