Last August, Hassan Rouhani was elected president of Iran. Since then, Rouhani has worked to overcome inherited domestic challenges—including an economy crippled by sanctions—while also improving relations with nations that remain skeptical of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
The Center for Middle East Policy has followed Rouhani’s presidency closely, and today we’re pleased to provide an in-depth examination of his first year in office in a new series on Iran@Brookings. We also encourage you to read Robert Einhorn’s open letter to the Iranian negotiating team. As a member of the American delegation for nuclear talks during his time at the State Department, Einhorn has much-valued insight to contribute to the process.
We hope you enjoy.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Maloney
