Could the war in Iran trigger a global economic crisis?

When will the Iran war end? Donald Trump has offered contradictory answers: he says America’s mission in Iran is “very complete”, may “go further” and also “depends”. Yet if America’s president declares a historic victory, Iran’s leaders could choose to drag the war out for a while. Such an act of defiance would be designed to impose extra economic pain and show that Iran was not defeated. The uncertainty would further unsettle financial markets, which were already jittery before the first missiles flew. Join Zanny Minton Beddoes, The Economist’s editor-in-chief, and a panel of our editors as they discuss how the conflict could unfold and assess what it might mean for the future of the Gulf, global financial markets and the world economy.
