BBC, condemned over censored Gaza documentary (Teheran Times and Listening Post)

More than 500 film, TV, and media workers have condemned censorship and racism after the BBC pulled a documentary about children’s lives in Gaza.

February 26, 2025 – 22:50

The media professionals, including 12 BBC staffers, sent a letter to the broadcaster’s leadership on Wednesday, in which they condemned a “racist” and “dehumanizing” campaign targeting the film Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone.

The BBC removed the documentary from its iPlayer streaming service after pressure from supporters of Israel. In a note to viewers, it said that there have been “questions” raised about the film and that it is “conducting further due diligence with the production company”.

The media workers wrote: “Beneath this political football are children who are in the most dire circumstances of their young lives. This is what must remain at the heart of this discussion.

FRONTLINE: War on Ukraine enters its fourth year

Image

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began three years ago this week, and the war has become the deadliest European conflict since World War II.

At least 12,456 Ukrainian civilians were killed between February 2022 and December 2024 and more than 30,000 were injured, according to a United Nations report released in January. The war has also displaced millions of Ukrainians, with close to seven million fleeing the country altogether, most of them women and children.

The future of the war is increasingly unclear as it enters its fourth year. President Donald Trump has embarked on a new strategy of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while tensions mount between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

FRONTLINE has covered the conflict since it began on Feb. 24, 2022, with award-winning documentaries and reporting initiatives including the film 20 Days in Mariupol, a collaboration with The Associated Press, documenting the start of the invasion. Continue leyendo →
