US Presidential Elections 2024

The 2024 presidential election promises to be like no other modern U.S. election

Former President Donald Trump leads among Republican candidates but faces multiple federal and state criminal charges related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss. Incumbent President Joe Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee and, if re-elected, would become the oldest American president at 81.

The outcome of the 2020 Presidential election resulted in the unprecedented storming of the U.S. Capitol, leaving voters questioning the state of U.S. politics, and the 2022 Midterm Elections continued to escalate conflict among the parties.

For the 2024 Elections, more than ever, global news consumers are seeking content they know can trust.

Angélica Cárcamo, Marielos Monzón, Álvaro Murillo, Óscar Martínez, Jennifer Ávila, Wilfredo Miranda y José Carlos Zamora en el Festival Gabo de Bogotá.

12th July 2024

How Israel deliberately targeted AFP and Reuters cameras filming Gaza (Le Monde)

By  (with Mariana Abreu, Aïda Delpuech and Eloïse Layan [Forbidden Stories])

The small hill of Tal Al-Zaatar, in the east of the Jabaliya camp, where the now-destroyed Al-Bashir mosque was built, is well known to the few Palestinian journalists present in the area. It is one of the few places in the besieged north of the Gaza Strip that offers sufficient network coverage to send images to the outside world or carry out live broadcasts.

At around 2 pm on January 22, journalists Emad Ghaboun, Mahmoud Sabbah, Mahmoud Shalha and Anas Al-Sharif were themselves looking for Internet signal to send their latest reports when a strike occurred. The place was exposed, almost desert. A reporter for Al Jazeera, Al-Sharif, was wearing a blue press vest when he was slightly wounded on his back. He dashed into the cloud of smoke. The body of a civilian was lying on the blood-soaked rubble, he had been killed instantly while on the phone with his family abroad. Three men were wounded. Prostrate and bloodied. They were crying and calling for help.
