A Russian ship sank in mysterious circumstances near Spain

Cartagena, Spain
A Russian cargo ship likely carrying two nuclear reactors for submarines, possibly destined for North Korea, suffered a series of explosions and sank in unexplained circumstances, about 60 miles off the coast of Spain, a CNN investigation has found.
The extraordinary fate of the Ursa Major has been shrouded in secrecy since it sank on December 23, 2024. But it may mark a rare and high-stakes intervention by a Western military to prevent Russia from sending an upgrade in nuclear technology to a key ally, North Korea, CNN reporting suggests. The ship set sail just two months after Kim Jong Un had sent troops to assist with Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

On 13 May 1917, 10-year-old Lucia dos Santos and her younger cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto were tending sheep in a field in Fátima, Portugal when, they claimed, they saw a shining figure in an oak tree.

Hace 50 años, coincidiendo con la muerte de Franco, España perdió su última colonia: un enorme territorio desértico, equivalente a la mitad de la superficie peninsular. Una colonia disfrazada de provincia y con procuradores en Cortes. La única parte del país en la que, en pleno franquismo, se toleraba el divorcio, la esclavitud y se enseñaba el Corán en las escuelas. Una provincia en la que se hablaba en español y en hasanía. Ésta es la historia de cómo España, después de cien años de presencia, abandonó el Sáhara Occidental y al pueblo saharaui.

CANARIAS7 muestra por primera vez el interior del campamento de Arguineguín, un recinto que se acondicionó en el muelle grancanario en medio de la emergencia sanitaria y migratoria. Son 20 minutos de la hora de grabación que recogieron las autoridades judiciales cuando atravesaron sus vallas para determinar si se estaban vulnerando derechos.
El redactor de Tribunales de este periódico Francisco José Fajardo contextualiza las imágenes exclusivas de las entrañas del campamento. En ellas aparecen, entre otros, la jueza Yanira del Carmen González y el fiscal José Antonio Díez, quienes hacen un recorrido junto a los responsables del campamento diseccionando cada rincón.
