Testimony from Israeli journalist for the daily Haaretz, Gideon Levy, as well as Palestinian journalists in Gaza, representatives of the Foreign Press Association in Israel, and @afpfr were heard at the United Nations headquarters for the first time in two years during a ministerial meeting on the situation of journalists in Gaza.

In a ministerial side-event from the United Nations headquarters last september, over 20 states called on the Israeli authorities to open the Strip to foreign reporters and evacuate the journalists in Gaza who need to leave. They also called for the protection of journalists and media professionals in Gaza.

Dans un appel lancé depuis le siège des Nations unies en septembre dernier, plus de 20 États ont demandé aux autorités israéliennes d’ouvrir le territoire aux médias internationaux et de permettre l’évacuation des journalistes qui le souhaitent. Ils ont aussi exigé la protection des journalistes et professionnels des médias à Gaza.
