Por qué algunas guerras no llegan a los titulares

Las sombras. Algunos de los muchos conflictos que hay en el mundo actual tienen escasa o nula repercusión mediática. Y se desarrollan en África. Las razones son complejas: entre ellas, la percepción de proximidad cultural, la falta de recursos periodísticos, la ausencia de libertad de prensa y la relevancia geopolítica. Nuestro compañero Matthew Leake dialogó con colegas africanos para trazar un panorama.

Una cita: las audiencias occidentales deben “recuperar la cultura de ‘Esto es complejo, tienes que leer mucho sobre ello’…”, plantea Lydia Namubiru, editora de The Continent.

Nasa has shared the first high-resolution images of the Earth taken by the Artemis II crew as they pass the halfway point between the Earth and the Moon.

The mission’s commander, Reid Wiseman, took the «spectacular» images, Nasa says, after the crew completed a final engine burn that set them on a trajectory towards our closest celestial neighbour.

This is a region-wide war.” Fawaz Gerges, of the London School of Economics and Political Science, explains why he believes the conflict has expanded far beyond Iran, what Israel is trying to achieve in Lebanon, and why the search for security may be driving the Middle East toward deeper instability. «As a historian of the world, I think this is the most dangerous moment in world history since the end of World War II in 1945,» warns Gerges. «I could easily imagine a scenario where the United States and China find themselves at war.»

Iran, le prix d’une folie (dossier)

Depuis plus de deux ans, l’armée israélienne bombarde Gaza, mais aussi le Yémen, la Syrie, le Qatar, l’Iran et le Liban. En entraînant les États-Unis dans une guerre contre la République islamique, Tel-Aviv a mis le monde entier en danger : ses équilibres géopolitiques, son organisation par le droit international, mais aussi ses économies toujours dépendantes aux hydrocarbures.

« Fureur épique », c’est le nom de l’opération lancée le 28 février par le président américain : si MM. Donald Trump et Benyamin Netanyahou ont assigné des objectifs fluctuants à cette aventure militaire, leur commune indifférence aux dégâts d’ores et déjà infligés à la région laisse augurer d’autres conflits. Les Européens, eux, se sont révélés incapables de faire entendre une autre voix. À l’exception notable du président du gouvernement espagnol.
