Today we published the latest edition of our Trends and Predictions report, our annual take on how the news industry is facing the year ahead. Authored by our Senior Research Associate Nic Newman, the report is based on a survey of 280 media leaders from 51 countries, and includes insights on many of the challenges faced by news publishers, including the rise of AI platforms, the competition from news creators, and pivoting to video and audio.
The key headline for me? On average, our respondents expect traffic from search to plummet by 43% in the next three years, with the report documenting dramatic falls in referrals from both Google Discover (21%) and Google Search (33%). You’ll find many other insights in Nic’s report, which you can read in English and Spanish on our website. Scroll down for four key findings and charts.
