The war in Ukraine has placed new emphasis on the security of nations bordering Russia, not least Finland, who has fought wars against its giant eastern neighbour in the past. Now, Finland is constructing a vast barbed-wire fence along the border, which Helsinki says is necessary to protect itself and monitor those crossing from Russia.
